Geiger History

The company was founded in 1878 when brothers Andrew and Jacob took over their father's two-room print shop in Newark, NJ.  The second generation brothers, Frank, Charles and George, entered the business in the 1900s and added date books and diaries to the expanding line of products.

The 3rd generation brothers, Ray and Frank, entered in the 1930s and added advertising specialties products.  Ray acquired the renowned Farmers' Almanac, becoming the 6th editor and tireless promoter for 60 consecutive years.

The company relocated to Lewiston, ME in 1955 and has expanded 4 times to its current size of 140,000 square feet

The 4th generation, Gene and Peter, manage the business today.  Gene is CEO and President, Peter the Executive Vice President and editor of the Farmers' Almanac.  The company has experienced unprecedented growth over the last decade and has earned numerous business and community honors.

Today Gene's son Jeffrey, 5th generation, has joined and is a Marketing Attache' and is involved in a variety of technology initiatives.

Each generation has enhanced and reinvigorated the business, but the Geigers themselves are only part of the story and the company's success.  Some 500 associates work in Lewiston and in field offices supporting a sales force of some 450 promotional consultants in nearly every state and more than 50,000 customers.
